Hmm... Life's great.. Everything's fine. But one thing bugs me. The existence of the need for advancement. I don't see the reason for advancement being that wonderful. Though there's the pros, there's certainly the cons. I'll tell you later the main reason why I'm thinking about this stuff. For now, let me talk my nonsense.
In this world that we lives in, every human being is obsessed with advancing or moving forward. Either they grew up in an environment that manipulates their minds into thinking of it as the norms or they are forced to accommodate and adapt to society's need. Whatever and whenever we think, we have always wanted the best, the coolest, the safest for us. As a kid, your mum would buy you the best stuffs that she can afford. That by itself will leech onto your mind about knowing that the best is indeed the best. But, sadly, only a minority knows that there's a price to pay for being or getting the best.
What's my grudge you say? My grudge is that if society is different now, i will certainly lead a better life. But I'm forced to adapt to these stupid idiotic changes made by past philosophers. I prefer a barbaric life with real values rather than now. Yes, we can call ourselves as civilised people. But we are no different from our ancestors. Uncivilised!! Why so? Even if we eat using fork & spoon rather than directly bite them off the plates using our mouth, we still are not capable of treating our guests honourably. How many of you have treated lunch and deep in your heart, hated the guy who take the most food?
Enough of this part. Back to the part of moving forward, what have we achieved over the years of mankind? A stronger mind? Yes. A weaker body? Indeed. In the past, it's a question of survival of the fittest. Only the strongest will survive their own birth. Even when growing up, they are forced to be immune of diseases. The weaker ones will always dies. But no... Man decides that is not to be. They came up with novelties and ideas which came to technologies in the medical field. More babies are born, diseases are curable and in the end, problems that we faced now.
With an older life expectancy, the people will certainly crowd the planet. Imagine half of the people who are suppose to be dead have not died. And they are talking about low-birth rate. Who needs high birth rate when our world are seriously starting to feel the cramp? The government of course. To feed the economy of the world. To have more people in the world so that the rich will have a bigger market to target to. Even if majority of the people gets richer, the richest among them will feed on the majority which is them of course.
The downside of having more 'weaker' people is that these people will cross-breed and don't allow the stronger ones' genes to evolve. Instead, it will be a step back. Imagine a man with asthma marry a woman with no asthma. The child will likely to be asthmatic and he, by the rules of nature, shouldn't be allowed to live long. Sufferings in famine help to differentiate between the stronger ones and the weaker ones. The stronger ones will move on with life and have stronger descendants. In short, medical technology have instead make mankind weaker and dependent on medicines. If all those who are supposed to die by cancer died and those who have cancer and yet still lives on, the future generation will evolve and be immune to cancer. The cost for this is of course the huge number of people's lives taken away while waiting for the whole transition to take place.
As for modernisation and inventions of tools, it has created a new stage in our lives. In the past, there's no such things as going to school. All you need is your bare hand to eat your meat. When Man decides to use a tool to catch prey, it makes their job easier. The price for them to pay is the laziness that creeps into their mind. All these inventions of late are all due to Man being lazy. These mindsets will certainly play a role in other aspect of their lives.
Now, all of us have to go through mandatory schooling in order to be accepted by society. Though schooling makes us think smarter, it obviously create a falsification of life on us. Throughout school, it makes our life seems pure and holy. But once you enter the adult world, housing bills, housing loans, bank loans, car loans, dowry for marriage, supporting of a family and many more will force your hands. Why all these exist in the first place? Oh.. Electricity makes our life easier to work, better housing to protect us, monetary needs to make a family happier. What our ancestors have demanded for a better life, the negative aspect are slowly hitting on us. In the past, anyone who can find woods and vines can make a house by themselves. Now, the cost of a house is mindblowing. 30 years of lifetime to totally own a house. 30 years from 60 years to 90 years of age to spend on retirement activities. Why do we need to work so hard just to spend it till the end?
Isn't it better to pick fruits and enjoy life while waiting for life to end? At least you get to enjoy your life with fulfilment. Actually, I envy the tribes that still exists now. Though they are ignorant of all the technologies that exist today, they live a carefree life. Think about it. 7 years to get used to being a human. About 15 years of mandatory and expected schooling. 30 years of slogging your ass off just to enjoy the rest of your life. Just when you thought you are at your peak, you'll be retired by then. About 2/3 of your lives are spent on stressful daily activities while 1/3 of your latter part of your lives are spent on what you really want to do. But by then, I will not be able to skate anymore.
But the best thing is this. Not all we succeed. By the law of average, only a minority will be successful. Also a majority of the minority will continue to be successful due to their heritage. The average ones may get richer. The sad case is that the successful ones may slump to the least successful ones due to bad business or poor finance management and the average ones may slump down or be successful. In the end the average guy gets thrown up or down leaving only two sides, the rich and the poor. Though it's not obvious now, it will be much clearer in future. It takes years to earn good money but just a few seconds to waste it all. Wasted to opportunists by underhand means.
So, my situation is this. I'm 20 years old. 22 by the time I finish NS. With an A level cert. Not good enough for public university. Not rich enough for private or oversea university. Should I take a risk in an attempt to join the successful ones? Or should I just be contend with where I am? It takes about 5k to take private diploma. 25k to take private degree. does a degree ensure big bucks? nope. but is a degree essential in going up the ranks? Absolutely!!! That's a dilemma. To continue study or not. If I study, I will lose my time. If I just work, I won't like my job scope due to my competitiveness. Which brings back to an unsolved mystery. How the fcuk I screw up my As? Damn... Am I stupid or am I too smart for the system or am I trying to act smart? I need some guidance. In this world, money talks. And I wanna kill the guy who create the barter system. And the guy who came up with economy. Oh wait.. They are already dead. Damn...
